Les Nuits des Arts Lumineux

Les Nuits des Arts lumineux of Roubaix is a route that allows visitors to discover Roubaix's monuments from a different, poetic and artistic angle, 6 months a year, at nightfall.

This stroll, open to all and entirely free of charge, is punctuated by luminous works that change with the seasons: welcome to the 2023-2024 season !

When's the event ? Follow the guide and the ephemeris !
Les Nuits des Arts Lumineux de Roubaix takes place every year, between the two editions of the Nuit des Arts. This season, from Thursday, December 7, 2023 to Thursday, May 18, 2024.

During this period, the route is illuminated every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 30 minutes after dusk: consult this ephemeris for detailed timetables.

Where is it ? Follow the route !
We suggest the following itinerary for optimal discovery, from La Piscine to the Grand'Place :

1/ Aux Sources de l'Art déco - Musée La Piscine, 23 rue de l'Espérance - Duration approx. 12 min.

A creation by the duo Camille Gross and Olivier Magermans, which revisits different artistic currents through the Roubaix prism of Art Nouveau, Art Deco and contemporary art, on the façade of the "most beautiful swimming pool in France", the Musée d'Art et d'Industrie La Piscine.

2 / From plant to fabric - Ensait - 2 allée Louise et Victor Champier - Continuous

Produced by the Lumière de verre studio, this creation follows in the long tradition of the magic lantern and its painted glass slides. These light projections reveal the architectural beauty of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Textiles.

3/ New ! M. Chat in Roubaix, 42 rue du Général Sarrail - Duration approx. 10 min.

A special feature of this mapping creation by studio Holymage: it animates a piece of street art created for the occasion, a first to date in France ! The famous mischievous tomcat created by artist Thoma Vuille, alias Monsieur Chat, which can be admired on walls the world over, takes us on a journey through Roubaix's heritage.

4/ New !Reflet - Eglise Saint-Martin, Contour Saint-Martin - Duration approx. 5 min.

Like the city of Roubaix, creative innovation is in the DNA of the Nuits des Arts lumineux, with artists in the making, since this work is the result of a 5-day worshop by students from Roubaix schools ARTFX, Piktura and ESSAT, organized during the Video-Mapping Festival 2023.

5/ New ! Sur le fil et le point - Hôtel de Ville, Grand'Place - Running time 10 mins approx.

This work is an original creation by Yann Nguema, an artist who has won several awards at festivals around the world. What makes it special ? He puts his own hands into the algorithm! Coding the images himself enables Yann Nguema to create extremely subtle animations, in which each stone of the redesigned building seems to come to life independently: when architecture becomes a lace of light !
